Who is Ex-Servicemen?

According to IBPS department, the ex-servicemen is categorized under three categories namely as XS, DXS, DISXS.

  1. Ex-servicemen (EXSM): Those candidates shall be treated as Ex-servicemen who fulfill the revised definition as laid down in Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Notification No. 36034/ 5/ 85 Estt. (SCT) dated 27.10.1986 as amended from time to time.
  2. Disabled Ex-servicemen (DISXS): Ex-servicemen who while serving in Armed Forces of the union were disabled in operation against the enemy or in disturbed areas shall be treated as Disabled Ex-servicemen (DISXS).
  3. Dependents of Servicemen killed in Action (DXS): Servicemen killed in the following operations would be deemed to have been killed in action attributable to military service
    (a) war (b) war like operations (c) fighting against armed hostiles (d) serving with peace keeping mission abroad (e) layering or clearance of mines (f) frost bite during actual operations (g) dealing with agitation para- military forces personnel (h) IPKF Personnel killed during the operations in Sri Lanka.

Who can Apply as Ex-Servicemen?

The Ex- servicemen who would apply for the job post:

  • Ex- Servicemen candidates who already secured employment under the Central government in
  • Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ would be permitted for the age relaxation as prescribed for Ex-servicemen for securing another employment in a higher grade or cadre in Group ‘C’/ ‘D’.
  • An ex-serviceman who has once joined a Government job on civil side after availing of the benefits given to him/her as an ex-serviceman for his/her re-employment.
  • Candidates who are still in armed forces and desirous of applying under ex-servicemen category whose date of completion of the specific period of engagement (SPE) is completed one year from the last date for receipt of an online application that is on or before 31.08.2016 are eligible to apply.

Ex-Service men Eligibility Criteria for IBPS PO Exam

Age Limit – The IBPS Ex-servicemen criteria candidate must be fit into the nationality decided by the conducting body. The age limit for applying for IBPS PO exam for all people is 20-30 years by the 1 July 2025.

The relaxation of 5 years is provided to the ex-servicemen. This age relaxation category includes the commissioned officers including ECO / SSCOs who contributed at least 5 years in the military services. The relaxation is provided in upper age limit. Educational Qualification – The candidate must be a graduate from any recognized institution or university recognized by the central government. The candidate must have scored at least 50% of their graduation. Basic in computer knowledge as all the banking processes are handled online and also the proficiency in the local language is a must.

Ex-service men Eligibility Criteria for IBPS RRB Exam

Age Relaxation
The age limit for IBPS RRB is different for all four category posts.

  • Officer Scale I = 18-30 years
  • Officer Scale II = 21-32 years
  • Officer Scale III = 21-40 years
  • Office Assistant (Multipurpose)  = 18-28 years.

The age relaxation for the upper limit for Ex-servicemen/ disable ex-servicemen is the actual period of service rendered in defense forces + 3years (8 years for disabled ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST) subject to a max age limit of 50 years and ex-servicemen commissioned officers including ECOs/ SSCOs is 5 years.

Ex-Service men Eligibility Criteria for IBPS Clerk Exam

Age Relaxation – The ex-servicemen candidate must be fit into the nationality decided by the conducting body. The age limit for applying for IBPS clerk exam for all people is 20-28 years that is the candidate should not have born earlier than 02.08.1987 and not later than 01.08.1995 (both dates inclusive). IBPS Clerk Eligibility for Ex Servicemen – The relaxation provided to ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen is the actual period of service rendered in the defense forces + 3 years (8 years for disabled ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST) subject to a maximum age limit of 50 years. The relaxation is provided in upper age limit.

The ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen need to provide necessary certificates in original/ copies at the time of Interview and at any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by the IBPS Participating organizations.

Educational Qualification – The candidate must be a graduate from any recognized institution or university recognized by the central government. The candidate must have scored at least 50% in their graduation.

Basic in computer knowledge as all the banking processes are handled online and also the proficiency in the local language is the must. Aspirants in the final year of their degree or waiting for their results are not eligible to sit for exams.

Ex-servicemen who do not possess the above civil examination qualifications should be matriculated ex-servicemen who have obtained the Army special certificate of education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air force after having completed not less than 15 years of service in the Armed forces of the union.

Age Limit Criteria
IBPS SO stands for IBPS specialist officers which are officer scale II and it should have the age 21-32 years for general categories and the age relaxation for upper limit for Ex-servicemen/ disable ex-servicemen is the actual period of service rendered in defense forces + 3years (8 years for disabled ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST) subject to max age limit of 50 years and ex-servicemen commissioned officers including ECOs/ SSCOs is 5 years.

IBPS Specialist Officer Eligibility for Ex Servicemen – Educational Qualification

The candidate must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree in computers/ information technology or equivalent with a min 50% marks in aggregate. The desired certificates in computer languages and one-year experience are required. This is for IT officers.

For CA, one-year experience and for law officer a degree in the respective field and two-year experience is required. There are other fields as well for which different requirements are there but graduation is must in all the respective fields.

Age Limit – SBI provided the relaxation in upper age limit for reserved category candidates. Candidates seeking for the age relaxation in upper limit must have all the necessary certificates and should be produced at the time of the interview, in case they qualify the examination and gets selected for the interview. No change in category is possible once the application form is submitted.

The ex-servicemen/ disabled ex-servicemen will have the upper age relaxation of the actual period of service rendered in defense services + 3 years (8 years for Disabled Ex- Servicemen belonging to SC/ST subject to maximum age of 50 years).

SBI Clerk Eligibility for Ex Servicemen Educational Qualification

The candidates who wish to apply for the post of Junior associates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central government.

The candidates who wish to apply for the post of Junior Agricultural Associates must hold a graduation degree in Agriculture or Agricultural allied activities from a Government recognized University/ Institute.
